Welcome!
In a fit of perfect timing, President Donald J. Trump returned to Twitter right as I left it. The master conductor is back at the head of his orchestra.
I can’t get over just how well done this was on the part of Team Trump. The mugshot is perfect. Although many suggested in advance of this (I don’t think anyone is saying it now having seen the final product) that he smile in the mugshot, his expression strikes just the right tone: “You messed with the big dog, and he’s not going quietly.” Pairing this with his long-awaited return to Twitter was brilliant. It ensured everyone, Left or Right, got the message. Hopefully he starts posting full time again soon.
The Left already seems to be panicking. Federal prosecutors, who perhaps have IQs a standard deviation higher than the state prosecutors pursuing Trump and his team for bogus crimes in Georgia, were right to allow him to skip the mugshot following their own equally dubious indictments. This is an unambiguous win.
What Trump’s critics on the Right never seem to understand is that he provides the center of gravity for an entire new world of conservative resistance to the decline. Strength breeds strength. Trump’s defiant and determined expression is the sort of signal that needs to be sent to friends. This is much better than whatever it was we saw at the first (and hopefully last) Republican primary debate a few days ago.
Now, on to some basic administrative matters. I’ll admit, I botched the rollout of this Substack. For paid subscribers, you have another exclusive article (on the 1932 Bonus March) coming soon. I sincerely apologize for making the initial slate of paid articles free so quickly. For free subscribers, I think the best way forward is periodic short free articles, along with making the new paid articles free after a month or so.
For the elite and handsome members of the Patrician Ultraman Group (P.U.G.) I’ll post an exclusive discussion post next week so that we can sort out the specifics of the first classic game night. I know I’ve been spamming everyone’s inboxes over the last few days but I promise I’ll keep it to a dull roar in the future.
Finally, I’d like to ask a favor. There are a decent number of subscribers already, but more subscribers means more freedom and, in turn, more articles. The best way to grow this Substack is through you all sharing it. Please, post as many screencaps of articles as you’d like (hopefully by accompanied by a link to the Substack), whether the article is paid or unpaid. This really does make a huge difference. Literally every new subscriber helps. Sharing these articles or just discussing them on other social networks is extremely appreciated.
Please comment below to say what you think of all this, offer suggestions (of any kind), bitterly criticize me for my many failings, or generally talk about anything you’d like. I’ll do these community roundtables every few months to make sure the Substack is going in the right direction.
Very grateful for all the support, great things to come.
