MG my favorite thing about your rhetoric is that you argue the right must be hopeful, optimistic, and committed to a decent and better future for our families and communities. I suspect many “right wingers” who I have heard driving with windows down blasting this song have convictions only paper thin about what must be done to create a better future for the country. Among many answers, doom, resignation, and resentment must not be a part.

Boy did this guy disappear or what? Has anyone ever done so little with so much viral fame gifted to him out of nowhere?

Another banger of an article for sure. In terms of the music, I agree that we cannot have a “my life sucks and my future is ruined (billions must die)” anthem. People do not want to hear or hear associated with that. It’s like that coworker who always complains about their life or struggles. People just distance themselves from negative energy. I would argue that folk songs like those in the film “Oh Brother Where Art Thou?” deal with tough themes but are much more hopeful. “I’ll fly away, oh Lord, I’ll fly away” that can resonate and not depress.

Laments are useful when the come 1) at the tail of a defeat after brave fighting 2) upon coming under conviction of sins 3) serious losses like the death of a child. Mere laments about jobs and how bad it is out there are empty blackpills.

I think the reason the right has not had a positive vision is because conservatism plays the heel for the progressive movement, and the conservative's job is to put up some token resistance to the new thing. Whereas I can think of some pretty obvious positive visions that are simply too taboo to be accepted right now: eliminate democracy and replace it with a variant of a monarchy (big project with lots of smaller projects first), mass deport, mass execute select criminals, secure the border, etc.

The song's got a good melody and beat to it, but yeah it's not really hopeful but I hope Anthony has a good career.

P.S. Older country/folk music is pretty good.
