Liveblogging the Second (and probably last) 2024 Presidential Debate

These liveblog posts always get a lot of views (you can view the liveblog of the Trump-Biden clash here) so I figured I might as well put one together for America’s latest Great Debate.

Former President Donald Trump is in Philadelphia tonight to do battle with Vice President Kamala Harris. Although the debate is being held on unfriendly ground, ABC News is the mainstream outlet that’s most hostile to Trump, the debate certainly seems like it’s Trump’s to lose. Kamala’s announcement bounce and the accompanying world-historic astroturfing campaign has faded into nothing. Trump is soaring to new heights of polling, unreached in either 2016 in 2020.

The Vice President herself has proven to be very unimpressive on the campaign trail, sticking to a small number of heavily-scripted public events that she still manages to fuck up somehow. Even her Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz, who was supposed to act as the main media surrogate as the campaign managers hide Kamala from the public, has been met with a decidedly mixed reception. He just sucks, there’s no way around it. The more the public sees these people the more they hate them.

If anything, things are going a little *too* well for Trump right now. I strongly suspect that our beloved President will encounter yet another cycle of negative headlines that will cause his commanding lead to vanish once again. Expectations for him tonight are extremely high. It’s easy to forget that during the last debate Trump won so badly that his opponent actually dropped out. Any signs of life from Kamala will likely be treated with firework approval from the liberal media and hysterical conservatives bound for the crystals this coming January.
