Stop asking for the Nashville massacre manifesto
You don't need permission to point out the obvious
On March 27, 2023, something horrible happened. A deranged woman named Audrey Elizabeth Hale stormed The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee and began shooting people at random. 3 children and 3 adult teachers were killed before police were able to shoot Hale to death.
The reaction to this atrocity was truly stunning. Liberal activists gathered at the Tennessee state house and staged a mini-riot. Assisted by Democrat legislators, who allowed them to breach security and incited the crowds, the mob of liberals began demanding gun control and proclaimed that Hale was a victim of the attack too.
Although Tennessee Republicans got off to a strong start, immediately moving to expel the legislators who enabled the occupation, the incident soon turned into a disaster for Republicans. Liberals across the country, led by President Biden, rallied around the officials, proclaiming that the move was authoritarian and undemocratic. Two of the legislators were successfully expelled. The third expulsion was derailed at the last minute by a stupid and fat rogue Republican legislator who thought he was making some kind of elegant legal distinction.
Making matters worse, the expelled legislators were immediately returned to their seats by the districts that elected them. Talk then moved to gun control, just as the Democrats had demanded. As far as I can tell, no serious charges were leveled against the “protestors” who broke Tennessee statehouse rules.
One small sliver of hope can be found in the fact that the state legislature is apparently retaliating against the districts that returned the expelled legislators. I have long maintained that the only way to actually solve the problems these people create is to exclude them from the process entirely. If these districts are going to send elected officials like that to the state house, maybe those districts need to look a little different, if they’re allowed to exist at all.
Now that the incident is mostly forgotten (it seems like it happened years ago already), it only really comes up in context of the motivations of other mass shootings. Hale apparently wrote a manifesto before she was killed that outlined her motivations. The state police and the Governor, though they initially promised to publicly release the manifesto, have not done so.
Although people are right to point out that if Hale was a white supremacist or whatever, everyone would know it by know, they’re wrong to attack Tennessee state officials for not releasing the manifesto. The families of the victims themselves have asked that the manifesto not be released.
Some people are suggesting that the families are like liberal activists or something like that and don’t want to incite transphobia. I really don’t think that’s true. Although I don’t claim to have any special knowledge of the contents of the manifesto, I can read between the lines about what is going on here:
The manifesto blames the victims.
Audrey Elizabeth Hale was a deeply deranged person. If you’re going to go out and kill a bunch of little kids and innocent school teachers, you’re probably mentally disturbed and self-absorbed to the extreme. The way you view the world is fundamentally different than the way other people do. This is not someone who is going to be able to provide a lot of valuable insight into their own motivations.
I’ll write her manifesto for her. It’s probably some variation of this:
I was sexually harassed or humiliated by the staff in some ambiguous, possibly fake, and non-criminal way
I faced brutal bullying from the students and religious abuse from my bigoted teachers who didn’t understand or accept me
I wanted to kill myself every day. This shooting was me standing up for people all over the country who feel bullied and persecuted like me
All of these items are probably blown of proportion, if they happened at all. Even if it was all true, it still wouldn’t justify the massacre. The real cause of the massacre is obvious: a total social meltdown caused by annihilating fads, coupled with fake persecution rhetoric about an ongoing genocide. When the unstable people being manufactured every day by public schools, adult-targeted children’s animation, and Discord inevitably really start to lose it, there’s always a serious risk that they’ll hurt others as opposed to just themselves.
It seems like Republicans always want some kind of validation in the face of enormous gaslighting surrounding these issues. The Audrey Elizabeth Hale’s of this world are obviously not well, and yet instead of getting the help they need, they are constantly affirmed as a victim class whose unhappiness is caused by conservatives as opposed to the pathologies inflicted on them by the liberal media and perverse “doctors.”
I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this, but you will never receive validation from liberals. Even if the manifesto says “I was radicalized by Democrats, I wanted to shoot Republican children because Democrats drove me insane!!!” the people behind the protests in the statehouse are still not going to concede anything.
They are not well-adjusted people either. They don’t care about the facts, or anything at all, really. It really is staggering that these professional activists would organize an illegal and aggressive protest immediately after a member of an aligned group killed a bunch of little kids. I don’t think Muslims would have done that during the height of Islamic terrorism. It would just be too insane.
These guys don’t give a shit about the public. They hate the public. They want to kill the public. The people backing them up apparently approve of what they did, the legislators suffered no negative consequences for being expelled. You do not need these peoples’ permission or any hard evidence to point out the obvious motivation behind this shooting: A state of mass mental unwellness created by liberals high and low. They’re going to try to block whatever response you have regardless.
If the manifesto is released and says anything bad about the victims, it will be seized upon and accepted at face value by liberals. They will idolize the shooter. 30% of the country will end up supporting or excusing the attack. The victims are dead, they can’t defend themselves. Whatever the allegations are, they will never in a million years justify what Hale did, and yet people will try to justify them all the time because that’s all these people know how to do.
Famed civil rights lawyer Clarence Darrow would free murderers by winking at the jury and suggesting that maybe the victims deserved it in context of the larger social justice movement. It worked then and it works today. Darrow is fondly remembered as a humanitarian today. People think he was a DECENT FUCKING HUMAN BEING just like how they think all the Irony Maoists today are expressing what decent people they are when they suggest that the flyover chuds be murdered en masse for opposing open borders. You don’t need these people’s approval or permission. You are not having a debate with them. You should not care what they think or say.
Stop asking for the manifesto. You already know what happened and you probably won’t like what you’ll get.
The one bright spot in this horrific tragedy was the police response. Watch the badge cam videos. They ran to the sound of gunfire. Gold Standard.
This is a good take. While I don’t know anything about the actual situation, I am a parent in a similar denomination and can tell you from what I’ve seen firsthand (1) there are kids with autism spectrum issues or other mental health issues (esp girls) who are extremely susceptible to this identity crisis -- and (2) our churches and parents quietly try to hold the line and guide kids back to reality, but are opposed by public schools, all of the media, and even the kids’ own pediatricians. It’s possible the parents may really have been trying their best (esp if she was autistic, and maybe unable to live on her own). They failed when they didn’t get the guns- but who would ever expect a daughter to do this? Though I wonder if she’d been on hormones and that played a role. I am not so keen for this manifesto to released because I imagine it could contain rage about the help parents & pastors tried to give her to help her accept reality-- and this would simply inflame more attacks on christian churches/schools.
