Excellent article as always.

For what it's worth, and I know you read it too, McMeekin estimates that the German high command gave the Bolsheviks the equivalent of ~$2bn in current money for their propaganda and bribery efforts.

Excellent analysis of revolution with a flaccid ending that we are going to vote ourselves out of this. Hint how did Trump do in round one v.s. the deep state? What's that, I can't hear you, did you squeak out NOTHING? And Trump is the one GOP candidate with balls, LOL!

As you may know, there were *two* Russian Revolutions. The first in March 1917 deposed the Tsar and brought to power the Provisional Government - a group of constitutionalist, centre-left cabinet ministers. They continued to prosecute the war.

The Germans wanted Russia out of the war and realized the Provisional Government was very weak politically. So they financed the Bolsheviks (and allowed Lenin to travel across Germany from his exile in Switzerland) in order to topple the Provisional Government, which occurred in October 1917 - Red October. Once in power, the Bolsheviks signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk.
