Hi everyone,
Hell of a week!
Welcome to all the new subscribers to this Substack. A very large number of you were brought here by my post-election essay Project 2035: Building a Trump Movement to Last, where I laid out my many grievances with the modern Right in the run-up to our most recent election and propose a few potential solutions to these problems. This is the most popular and widely-read essay in this Substack’s history.
There’s a lot of content on this Substack that even I’ve forgotten about. The direction of this Substack has changed many times and will probably change in the future. Here are a few highlights:
Contemporary politics - I hate this subject, but these essays inevitably end up being the most well-read pieces.
Political and cultural transformation in the era of massive psychic damage
Political post-mortem of Ron DeSantis: The Caudillo who wasn't there
History - This is what I enjoy writing about the most. There is so much great content out there that is largely forgotten but very revealing about our current predicament. Also, be sure to finish the Clarence Darrow and Russian Revolution series. People never bother to read the later parts of these multi-part essays but they’re very good!
In March 1914 socialist mobs invaded churches all over New York City
The 1932 Bonus Army scandal was always communist propaganda
ACLU hero Clarence Darrow bribed juror to try to free bombers who killed 21 people (Part II) (Part III)
You really should read this brief introduction to the Russian Revolution series (I spent a lot of time on this, please read it)
Part 1: The February and October Revolutions
Part 2: Post-Revolution Russian politics/The aftermath of the October Revolution
Part 3: National and ethnic divisions within the Russian Empire/The Ice March
Part 4: Ukraine, Finland, and the Revolt of the Czechoslovak Legion/Regicide
Part 5: Disaster for Lenin/Enter Wrangel
Current events - Hate writing these, mostly because they are so depressing and I don’t have the constitution to churn out clickbait at a regular clip. Still, more people should know about these stories.
Judge gives BLM gunman 70 days in jail for firing at car on highway, hitting bystanders
BLM gunman convicted of manslaughter, not murder, for shooting police officer to death
Finally, there is the podcast. I think the podcast is really great, frankly. Crazy to think that there have been more than 50 episodes so far. The most recent episode covered Halo: Combat Evolved (2001) but the topics jump around between movies, games, TV shows, and books. No edrama allowed. All the podcast episodes can be found below.
Finally, I’d like to humbly ask you to upgrade to a paid subscription right now. This will give you access to all the podcast episodes available on this Substack, it also really helps me out a lot. It’s only $5 a month to upgrade to paid and it really makes a big difference in my life. If just a very small fraction of readers upgraded, I wouldn’t have to ask. I am sincerely grateful to all paid subscribers, and think all free subscribers should be killed in real life.
